New Phone

This is my new phone and it is everything I wanted and more. I really wanted the IPhone but after doing the math switching from Verizon was so not worth it and everything I have read about AT&T made me really not switch (they seem to have a lot of fees and are pretty expensive for extras such as text messaging and a data plan.) So after careful consideration I decided to get the LG Voyager. I love love love this phone. The front is a touch screen which is pretty easy to use and when you get sick of it you can flip the phone open and use the key pad. I love this phone because it has an amazing speaker phone and a pretty good camera. I also love the fact that it is really easy to get online and Google things...which is my addiction and check my email. I would totally recommend this phone to anyone and I think that it is almost as cool as the IPhone.

The Last Lecture

I have just finished listening to Randy Pausch's book The Last Lecture.

Here is a brief description of the book from his website http://thelastlecture.com/index.htm

"On September 18, 2007, computer science professor Randy Pausch stepped in front of an audience of 400 people at Carnegie Mellon University to deliver a last lecture called “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.” With slides of his CT scans beaming out to the audience, Randy told his audience about the cancer that is devouring his pancreas and that will claim his life in a matter of months. On the stage that day, Randy was youthful, energetic, handsome, often cheerfully, darkly funny. He seemed invincible. But this was a brief moment, as he himself acknowledged. Randy’s lecture has become a phenomenon, celebrating the dreams we all strive to make realities. And now, in his book based on the now-famous lecture, Randy goes even deeper to inspire us all."

I found the book extremely touching, smart, and moving. It makes you appreciate life, focus on your dreams and tune into what is really important. I enjoyed the whole book but particularly enjoyed his concept about choosing if you are going to be a Tigger or Eeyore. I believe that you can choose to be happy and enjoy life and try..on most days to live as a Tigger. I also really like when he says " How to get people to help you": Tell the truth, be earnest, apologize when you screw up, focus on others, not yourself".

I highly recommend everyone read this book! I will have Randy and his family in my thoughts and hope for the best for them.

Proposition 317

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
Being a Irish (some grandparent's parent lived there I think) girl named Erin I have always had a special place in my heart for this fun holiday. Proposition 3-17 (proposed by the the nice brewers at Guinness) is a campaign to make St. Patrick's Day an official holiday in the US. To support this very important cause go to http://www.proposition317.com/stpats.html and sign the petition. I personally signed it because I think it is mean that I am sitting at work right now and not at a pub with a yummy Black and Tan in my hand. These pictures are from Victoria, Beth and My senior spring break to Ireland.

Whats on your list?

My co-worker Debbie told me about this new book called Listography "Your Life In Lists". In it it has 70 list prompts that help you document your life. Some of the list includes "List the ways you've changed since your teens", "List people you wouldn't mind having sex with", "List your favorite records", "List your bad habits", "List your guilty pleasures".

I am totally obsessed with this book.

Here is my first list: "List your past jobs"

1. Admission Officer, University of Rhode Island.

2. Waitress, Casey's Restaurant.

3. Waitress, Christies of Newport.

4. Waitress, Cherrystones

5. MOD (Manager on Duty) Blockbuster

6. CSR, Campus Video

7. Waitress, Newport Creamy

8. Ice Cream Scooper, Brickley's Ice Cream

9. Box Packer, Young Scientist Club

I think that is all of them... Anyone remember any that I forgot?

How old are you??? Really

With just two months before my 26 birthday I am pleased to report that I am only 20.9! I learned that because went to the website http://www.realage.com/homepage.aspx . The Real Age website is a great site for health and wellness. On the site you can take the age test answering questions about sleep, family health history, food and alcohol consumption, workout habits, and stress levels. Its a really interesting test that doesn't take that long. When you finish they give you your real age based on your results as well as a recommendation plan for things you can do to improve your diet, nutrition, general health etc. Mine was pretty helpful, it told me to take to take more Vitamin E and Omega-3 as well as doing more strength training during my work out and not talking on the phone when I' m driving. Having fun learning how old you really are.. I hope your 30 is the new 20!

Why I too have a crush on Obama!!!

Have you seen the video on YouTube? Victoria posted it in her blog a little while ago and I think it is just too funny. Here is the link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=wKsoXHYICqU

But in all seriousness I really do think that if elected Barack Obama will make an amazing president. Here are the 10 reasons I am supporting him in 2008:

1. He wants to expand Hate Crimes statutes

Obama supports strengthening federal hate crimes legislation and reinvigorate enforcement at the Department of Justice's Criminal Section.

2. He wants to enable and reward all Americans who serve to meet the Nation's Challenges

Enable All Americans to Serve
Integrate Service into Learning
Invest in the Nonprofit Sector

3. He hates "No child left behind" and hearts higher education!

4. He is nice to the "little guys"

5. He will take care of the veterans that are fighting in the craziness of a war and will start bringing them home.

6. He supports women (and their right to choose)
